Guess what? Green Smoothies don’t have to be scary. They can be quite friendly when they want to be!
If just the thought of a cup full of power greens sends your taste buds running, you’ll want to try one of my 3 favorite green smoothie recipes. Each is packed with nutrients, simple to throw together and actually tastes AMAZING! (Your kids may end up loving them too!)
Packed with protein, fiber and vitamins A, C and K, the spinach and kale in these smoothies are a great way to boost your nutritional intake and sneak more veggies into your diet. Power greens can have an overpowering taste but there are some simple ways to up the yum factor:
Add a Teaspoon of Honey: Adding honey to your smoothie helps offset the bitter taste of leafy greens.
Use Frozen Fruit or Ice: Adding fruit is a fantastic way to make a green smoothie a lot more tolerable! I find that making a cold drink using frozen fruit or adding ice also makes it more drinkable.
Buy Prepackaged Spinach or Kale Leaves: This makes it easy to just grab, blend and go in a flash.
Protein Powder: For an added protein boost (great for pre or post workout!) add a scoop of protein powder to your drink.
Now time to add all the ingredients together and blend away with one of these great recipes!
