We all know prioritizing fitness is challenging. Family, work, kid’s activities and numerous obligations leave us short on time and energy. Magazines are flooded with the trendiest workouts and advice but let’s be honest— that 20-something fitness model doesn’t have to run off to school pick-up in 10-minutes or have a kid who just ran off with her weights!
I’m a Mom of two small children— I get the challenges moms face when living an active life.
As a soccer player for over 15 years, fitness, cross- training and healthy eating are all part of staying on top of my game. In returning to the field after my first pregnancy, I quickly discovered that I no longer had the liberty of time (or energy!) to workout whenever I wanted and many of the fitness programs I participated in didn’t make sense in my new life with kids. I thought to myself, “Now what? How will I ever fit it all in?” I knew I just had to get creative and find the ways to sneak in my fitness. That’s why I created this blog!
Like your favorite running buddy and sporty friend by your side, I’ll bring you relevant, authentic content you can read, enjoy and learn from in less than 5 minutes. Tips that are quick and easy to follow. Workouts that are efficient, effective and allow for flexibility when your day doesn’t go as planned.

Coached by some of the game’s best, including the captain of a Professional Women’s soccer team, I continue to play soccer twice a week, compete regularly in 5K’s, work out in high Intensity gyms with pro-trainers and love trying out new fitness programs and keeping an eye out for the latest active styles. I am passionate about sharing what I learn along the way with you!

Hi! I’m Lorna — I’m passionate about living a healthy, active lifestyle – integrating fitness, playing sports and family into my daily life. I love writing about the lessons I learn along the way on the Kick It Like Mom blog.
I’m the proud mom of two young children – an extremely active daughter and a quickly growing toddler son who’s determined to keep up with his big sis.
I live in Seattle – the heart of an active Pacific Northwest region – with my husband and kids where we have plenty of adventures together. In my little bits of “Me Time” I play competitive rec soccer, support Seattle’s pro sports teams (Go Sounders!), and with my husband co-direct Roses & Rosemary, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for HIV affected children in Southern Africa.
Given the chance to unplug, I love traveling to sunny places to recharge my vitamin D (and sanity!), snowboarding in the nearby mountains and catching a few minutes of elusive Zen through paddle boarding and yoga.
